Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice

Happy Winter Solstice!

Here is some food for thought as we wrap up 2020 and celebrate the shortest day of the year. This year, we can look to the southwestern horizon just before sunset to see what looks like a double star, some are calling the “Christmas Star”. Jupiter and Saturn are closer together than they have been since the Middle Ages in 1226.

I have always loved the winter solstice. I used to attend a church that had a bonfire on the Winter Solstice with a beautiful celebration of light. Many human celebrations and rituals have been created to get people through these dark days. We wait for the Spring equinox and life to bloom again.

During 2020, I have studied Biophotons and Non-duality and the wisdom that is found in the intersection of science and spirituality. As many despair about the state of society, it is a time to consider some Truths that take us beyond our current state of chaos:

We are Beings of Light

We truly are beings of light. It is being proven by science.

All living beings emit biophotons, a low frequency packet of light. Plants, insects, and animals all emit biophotons. It has been speculated that they do this to communicate with their environment and each other.

Every cell of our body emits a low-level electromagnetic pulse of light. Some of the photons emitted by the neurons in our brain can even be seen by the naked eye. Scientists are speculating that communication within and between cells happens through these biophotons. This upends the belief in a material world where chemical reactions do all of the work.

The only thing you can be 100% certain of is that you are aware.

Our societal belief in materialism has convinced us that only matter is real. This is causing the chaos that we see in the world. It’s time to move to a consciousness-first understanding of the world. In this view, there is an intelligent energy, a field of consciousness that created and powers the universe. Consciousness is all that there is. Experience and matter are made of consciousness, appear in consciousness, and are seen by consciousness.

I have been studying the work of Rupert Spira and his mentor Francis Lucille. I highly recommend their book, the Perfume of Silence. I also recommend the book, No Self No Problem: How Neuropsychology is Catching up to Buddhism by Chris Niebauer PhD.

These teachers point us to the truth that our conditioned operating systems block the natural state of peace and happiness that is our birthright. The self image we have carefully constructed since birth and spend most of our waking moments trying to prop up and defend are an illusion. My personal self “Caprice” is really just a thought. When I stop paying attention to Caprice she disappears.

Of course, there is so much more to explore, I just wanted to peak your interest and get you curious.

Do you connect to the Universe through light?

Consider the possibility that we connect to the greater field of consciousness through our light emissions. Perhaps your mind connects to the infinite mind of the universe via light.

As you enjoy this shortest day of the year, take a moment to ask the question, “Who am I”?

Just sit with it and explore what comes up. I also enjoy relaxing my body completely and focusing on the sensation of the energy pulsing through my body and through every cell of it. I can almost feel the light that is pulsing through my body and flowing out through the imagined boundaries of the body.

With love,

Caprice
